As I was a mom with one child with me, and other babies within the cradle would work 12 hour shifts cleaning floors and tear off wallpaper. Ha! We were getting closer to completing, however it was still a long way off. For furnishing the space, it was going to be a huge effort in terms of time and money. I would also have to go out and shop for my most-loved items. In order to stay within budget, I began by taking my sons to estate sales looking for of diamonds. Every week, we spent Thursday to Saturday at garage sales and estate sales buying brand new furniture. After that, I repainted and smoothed in the driveway during the workweek. My passion for furniture restoration started with an appearance that was similar to this. I continued to work on furniture even after we had furnished our house. I had an area at the market to sell things. I eventually had so many pieces I didn't have a clue what to do with them and I outgrew my space. More than 1000 people came to my house in one weekend to purchase everything on the ground floor. That's how my company Growing Days was born. Growing Days was not only a thriving business but also my sweet family. In a way, I had found the perfect balance between being a mum as well as starting my own venture. Growing Days seemed like the best combination. In 2013, my daughter Nora became our fourth child. Though I was content with the direction my business took, I felt like I was in need of some time off. I took some time away from furniture that was vintage to enjoy more quality time with my family. This was precisely what I needed at that moment. It rang once more after a while. There were calls from people asking me for help with decorating their homes and interiors. The majority of people who contacted me were from those who visited my home at one of my furniture open houses. After that, I gradually took on more clients, at my own speed. Soon I had multiple clients and I was running a business of home renovations. If you'd have said to me that this company of mine would turn into an idea for a TV show that airs on the DIY Network I probably would have laughed. As I look back on this situation and think about it, I laugh.
